This particular client approached us with a stunning Architectural house and expressed the desire to upgrade the exteriors to better suit their evolving family dynamics. With a family that was growing and maturing, including the addition of grandchildren, it was crucial to create a space that was sophisticated and accommodating for large gatherings, catering to the needs of visitors of all ages.

At the rear of the house, there was a lack of shelter from easterly winds, and shade was necessary from the morning sun. Our design aimed to create an environment usable in all weather conditions by enhancing the open-plan living design of the house and extending it seamlessly into the external areas, ensuring usability even in inclement weather.

The presence of a boat deck posed a significant challenge, occupying a considerable amount of space. However, it was essential to integrate it into the design both aesthetically and functionally.

Additionally, the BBQ space was transformed into a social hub. Previously tucked away in a corner, it was now positioned at the heart of the design, inviting guests to gather around—an entertainer's dream come true!

 

Incorporating substantial built-in bench seating throughout the garden allowed for flexible seating arrangements during large gatherings, ensuring ample space for guests to spread out and enjoy various social spaces. Additionally, the introduction of steps, changes in levels, and diverse materials served multiple purposes. Not only did the alteration in materials help delineate steps and changes in level but it also enhanced safety by making these transitions more noticeable.

Moreover, the redesigned area has become a favourite spot for the grandchildren, who now eagerly explore the backyard for imaginative play. They delight in jumping between the steppers, rolling on the Sir Grange Zoysia lawn, and creating their own running track around the boat deck and across the lawn. This transformation has truly captured the hearts of every generation, fostering cherished memories and moments of joy for years to come.
