Introducing the Welcome Garden at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2024, proudly presented by Scotts. Crafted by the collaborative efforts of Jason Hodges & Breana Graham Landscape Architecture, and brought to life by the skilled hands of Semken Landscaping, Ben Hayman, and Dennis Scott of Lush Landscapes.
This garden has been carefully crafted to create a tranquil retreat for gathering, unwinding, and revitalizing. Drawing inspiration from traditional garden aesthetics with a modern edge, the design prioritizes soft landscaping over hardscaping, leveraging plant life for shading, ground coverage, and visual allure.
A key focus of this design was the utilization of economically sustainable materials readily accessible to the public. Many of these materials are repurposed in innovative ways, offering fresh perspectives on their usage. The overarching goal of the garden is to captivate and inspire DIY enthusiasts, encouraging them to take home novel ideas that can be adapted and implemented in their own spaces.
To maintain a modern feel, the design incorporates large-scale mass plantings, species repetition, and features topiary balls, hedges, and trees as key sculptural elements, drawing focus and adding depth to the space.
Minimalist furniture in understated hues has been carefully selected to complement rather than compete with the garden's natural beauty. Each piece prioritizes comfort, inviting visitors to pause, reflect, and fully immerse themselves in the tranquil ambiance of the garden.
