For the 2025 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, we collaborated with Jason Hodges and Semken Landscaping to bring Doable to life as part of the Show Garden Competition.
The garden was created around a simple idea: a beautiful and functional outdoor space does not need to rely on an excessive budget or highly expensive materials. Through thoughtful planning, practical choices and a little creativity, Doable demonstrates how an inviting garden can feel considered, generous and achievable.
Informal seating areas, a simple timber pergola and layered soft furnishings create relaxed places to sit, gather and enjoy the garden. Large-format, blended pavers bring warmth and variation to the hardscape, while helping everyday materials feel more refined.
Planting is central to the design. Although presented as a richly established show garden, the palette was selected with the understanding that the same effect could be created over time using smaller plants, cuttings and patience.
At its heart, Doable is a garden for living. It includes spaces to enjoy alone, as a couple, with family or while entertaining. The familiar Australian lawn provides a soft, open place for play and relaxation, balancing the surrounding planting and hardscape.
The garden was designed to leave visitors with the confidence that, with planning, patience and personality, a show garden experience can be created at home.
